Default Re: sync???

Lex,

The SSD and VSD are used to lock PT to video black burst. This is needed to do a "pull-up and Pull-down" that relates to the diff. between film and video speeds.

These will not work with the 001 or an AMIII card as they have no word clock input. They must be resolved via the SPDIF input.Digi does not make a box that will do this but there are others available.

If you plan to score for pict you def. need to see and spot to Time Code.

If the sessions you get are transfers from film that are going back to film you will most likely need to resolve your system to the "pulled-down" sample rate, or you won't be able to watch it in sync.

I would ask the engineer that you plan to work with most and find out how he/she works. Some studios don't work at a pull-down but pull the whole session up for the final transfer. This is however not the norm and if you will be working with more than one studio you will be expected to have the "pull-down" capability. Also, having your sessions referenced to an external source, even when they are not "pull-downs" is a much better way to go.

Hope this helps,

kasper
