Default MacBookPro&ProTools - 96k w/Headphone Jack

I've got a MacBookPro - 2017 13". I had to edit a 96k sesh on the laptop and it won't do it. Won't play anything at 96k. If I play a 96k file via Quicktime - No Prob. If I try to create a 96k sesh in Pro Tools with headphones plugged into the jack - it won't even give me the option to create a 96k session. Oddly - The Laptop WILL let me create and play a 96k ProTools session if I do not have anything plugged into the headphone jack and it will play through the onboard speakers without issue. Fricken lame. I'm pretty sure I was able to do this on earlier macbook pros. Anywho - the fix was relatively inexpensive, though there are much larger and more expensive devices to make it work. I did it with this:

Thought I'd pass on the info.

Your MBP with has a separate headphone output device, it is likely defaulting to 44.1 kHz. You should try setting it to 96kHz in Audio/Midi Setup.

Make sure you have no other software grabbing that headphone output when it appears.

For anyone else who comes across this thread - I’m editing “on the run” and didn’t bring my sound card and have discovered this 96k limitation, plus I couldn’t get the output to switch to 96k for love nor money. But Loopback has proven to be a godsend.
