Don't use linear phase. Use minimum phase/natural phase. Linear phase introduces pre-ringing and requires latency.

Min phase/natural phase has minor phase shifts but if the Q isn't too high and the cut isn't too much (neither of which should be done in FR compensation), it is more transparent.

Ehh...I disagree with this statement. The differences you will find between a $62 Dayton Audio EMM-6, a $600 Earthworks M23R and a $2,500 DPA 4004 mostly disappear when you get them 6" apart. For almost all users the EMM-6 and (the free) REW software will do everything they need. You could buy 4 or 5 of the EMM-6 mics for less than half the cost of one M23R and average them out and get just as good results as using one of the more expensive mics. (Although, I'm not sure that REW does multi mic measurements and averaging.)

I I use Smaart and have a pair of the M23Rs and a pair of the dBX RTA-M mics. I bought the M23Rs because I also wanted to record with them.

I don't get it.
You have a small room with all kinds of phase cancellation/buildups, modes, whateveryouwannacallit, and use EQ to fix it?!
You'll have to decide what part of the room to fix.
Sweet spot? OK
But the rest of the room will be chaos.
Probably worse than it was before.
I don't get it.
Fix the room, or if you can't, learn how it sounds, to live with it.
It's always been part of my listening, to hear things from different positions in the room.

This.

And if you ever work in different studios you need this skill as there are no two identical rooms anywhere in the world.

It's been partly fixed. The distance between the speakers is fixed. I got a larger desk and fixed a smaller tv so now the speakers are at long distance enough from each other. So now i have created a prophile using sonarworks reference application. It measured the sweet spot and a few more spots close by. Sweet spot is enough for me anyway, i guess, cause there's where i am when mixing. Now my problem is i can't get pro tools to find the plugin despite it beeing where all the other aax plugins are. But there's another thread for that However, i guess i won't be able to listen to the mixes from very many different positions, but i'll have to live with that.

Room tuning in a small space is always only going to help in one spot, and "perfection" is highly unlikely. "Better than it was" is still an improvement, but learning your room will always be important
