Default AVID ASIO control panel don't change ASIO buffer size

Hi,
we upgrade to a AVID HD NATIVE system (Win 8.1 x64).
In PT 10/11 everything works as expected.
But, we are also running different DAWs like Presonus Studio One 2 an so on. Therefore we need the AVID ASIO drive to run as expected.
We can bring up the AVID ASIO control panel from inside a 3rd party application but we can't change the buffer size to any different than 1024.
Is this a known issue? I couldn't find anything about this around here and google. I tried to deinstall the driver (AVID HD driver 11.3) and reinstall it with out any succsess.

To clear this out, i can use the dropdown menu to select something down to 64, but after i hit "okay", it won't change to anything and will stay at 1024!

System is Win 8.1 x64
PT11 HD (including the AVID HD driver 11.3).
I/O is a HD I/O (analog) and a blue 192 I/O.

If someone has an idear what to do, please give us some help with this.

You have to run the other applications as an administrator. This will allow them to have full control over the HD Native asio drivers. Without this option, you can't change buffers or sample rate.

With Windows you also need to make sure that the interface you're using for Pro Tools is NOT the default interface for Windows sounds/audio. Use your onboard sound card for other audio and your PT interface ONLY for PT.

Cheers,

Cheers,
This is not necessarily true with some Avid hardware.

My 003 Rack doesn't have any problems being used for both (though, obviously, not both at the same time...I don't think...but I haven't tried it.)

Of course, what The Weed outlined is a very useful step when troubleshooting...

Just rockin'...what more is there?

Hi Bill,

Couldn't do it with PT 11 and my 002 Rack (I know not supported, but that just means not tested, the 002 Rack works fine otherwise). I had to re-enable my onboard sound card in BIOS and make it the default for Windows audio. I found the tip on the forum, so it's well documented by users.

Cheers,

Thanks a lot
1. Do a right click on the >PRO TOOLS 11< icon (desktop or statmenu, or both)
2. hit the compatibility tab
3. click the check box: "run as administrator"
4. click apply
5. start protools
6. chance your settings - and cross fingers it works ;-)

all the best
