Pro Tools 12 installed but stops when I try to record
My Pro Tools 12 was just installed on my HP Pavilion Slimline, which has a Windows 7 operating system.
I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 2/2 interface for which I have downloaded and installed a driver as per manufacturers instructions. The program opens and I'm trying to open a new track and test it with a microphone. I click on the red button with the white dot to the left of the "I", "S" and "M" buttons and I start to hear a repeating clicking noise that gets louder and louder and then I get a message from Windows that Pro Tools has stopped working. I've changed the compatibility to Windows 7 I thought it might be feedback, but then I disconnected the microphone. If anyone knows the problem or has any ideas about it, please advise. Thank you. |

Re: Pro Tools 12 installed but stops when I try to record
Check under Setup>Hardware to see if the Scarlett is actually the selected audio engine? Open the focusrite software and check the routing

Re: Pro Tools 12 installed but stops when I try to record
Go to setup, I/O.
Go to the inputs window and press "Default". Do the same in the outputs window. The I/O should now match up with your interface. Open your PT session. Create a track. Set the output of the track to the corresponding output from your interface that goes to your speaker. Set the input of the track to the interface input your mic is in. Put it in record. Working? If not, post a picture of your track first with the I/O showing.

Re: Pro Tools 12 installed but stops when I try to record
And we need more info about the PC. Drive speed, what if any second harddrive for recording to and RAM etc.
A Sandra report is the best choice here.

Sorry.
We all posted at the same time.... Albee's post is the actual logical start.

Re: Pro Tools 12 installed but stops when I try to record
I did what Albeen suggested. Setup>Hardware is listed as Focusrite 2, which I imagine would mean 2/2... ? (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
That didn't stop the problem so I followed the next suggestion, which was to go to setup > I/O and choose default, but when I did that I got the error messages, first : Could not complete the Stem Dialog command because Assertion in "..\ PtApp\ PtApp_AuditionMgr.cpp", line 2928. then : Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x0000000000000021, |

Pro Tools 12 installed but stops when I try to record
Ideally disable ALL sound devices from both Playback and Recording tabs except The 2i2 in Ctl Panel Sound settings. In playback and recording tabs , right click > Properties >Set sample rate to 44.1 16 bit to start (can change later) Open PT Create New Set sample rate in that create dialog to 44 ( must be same as what set in Ctl panel or Mixcontrol) Enter any name, location for dummy .pts file Hit save Try adding a click track. Try playing back. My guess is you were trying to open a session file with different sample rate as focusrite is set at. Once you get that going you can circle back and try adding Windows sounds back in, again assuming you set sample rates consistently. If i want to open a file with different rate like 48, with the 18i20, I have to do a create new dummy file at 48 and then close that before I try opening the old 48k. Goofy, I know. Re: Pro Tools 12 installed but stops when I try to record
Does 2i2 come with or work with software like Mixcontrol?
