Default PT playback of .m2v files ...

Digi et al,

Is it possible to playback .m2v (mpeg-2) QT files in Pro Tools?

I do have the QT MPEG-2 Codec installed ... .m2v movies play fine in QT 6.5. I tried to import the .m2v file and received this error: "The selected file is not a valid QuickTime movie."

I have a client who is going to be delivering 33 movies to me in this format .... and I would rather not have to convert every single one of them to a more standard mjpeg-a.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

No.
Ask the client to make a different file for you. MPEG2 is a long encode. They can make a DV file faster and you can play that.

If that is not a choice, add file conversion time to the budget.
