Default Pro Tools 2022.4 update is a DISASTER!

So I've had a (mostly) stable system running PT 2021.12. on a 2021 MBP M1 Max 64gb 2tb (via Rosetta 2 of course since Avid is going for dead last in Apple Silicon compatibility roll outs) Figured I'd install the update for the Clip FX alone... BIG MISTAKE. Now my virtual instruments ALL have a massive latency regardless of buffer/cache size (if they play at all). Constant freezes (that eventually wake back up) Audio drop outs. System usage is pegged at 100 PERCENT and fluctuating wildly even on modest sessions.

At first I thought maybe it was a faulty installation so I completely removed pro tools and any lingering remnants... rebooted... fresh install. SAME PROBLEMS!

So... back to 2021.12 we go. Dear Avid, you REALLY need to get your act together. There's a reason your user base is leaving en masse. I LOVE pro tools, I KNOW pro tools, I really don't want to learn something new just because Avid has decided Pro Tools isn't worthy of ACTUAL improvements...Charging us more and changing the name (yet again) is not a path to success.

This is really causing me to reevaluate my choices.

No issues 9n M1 here.

Also, on both Avid.com and Sweetwater there are new packages and it looks like to keep Ultimate it’s still $399/yr if you don’t want/need the flex things.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. If you've been through the steps for your OS then I'd recommend starting a support case to get a tech working on it.

2022.4 felling good here back on Mojave, 2010 cMP-12core intel, Radion 580

Mac Studio M1Max Monterey 12.3.1 on par with above while working. Excels in starts-ends-restarts. My issues here are / were Audio drivers only able to work internally. TB3 external still no go.

Maybe it's a Mojave 12.3.1 thing? I'm not sure whats going on but its weird. I tried installing the 2021.7 build but it started throwing up Avid Video Engine errors and video playback was broken. It kept saying it wasn't compatible with my OS. But, I can go even FURTHER back to 2021.12 and it all works fine. I really want my CLIP FX back... Bizarre...

Smooth install, no issues whatsoever. PT Ultimate Perpetual, installed through AVID Link. Dell XPS 15 laptop, Windows 10. Although, I did hold my breath during HDX card firmware update.
