PT 11 crashing as it opens a session (which it had opened before).
Opens a window that says "Pro Tools has crashed - would you like to send report to Avid" (which I have done, but which does nothing). Don't know why I did to cause PT 11 to suddenly crash on opening existing sessions that opened a day before. Am attaching SANDRA report. I'm kinda baffled. Only thing I can think of that I did the day before was update iLok Manager, download an nVIDIA graphic update (via Windows Update) and updated iTunes (which I have since removed entirely). I have trahsed my preferences via TRASHER 11. Attached is a crash log that PT 11 kept. Can you launch the session by disabling the plugins on launch?

Will try - hadn't considered it. Just tried - and the session opened. Instantiated first plug-in; Channel Strip - no problem. Instantiated RVox (Waves) and it crashed). Hmmm. That's all I've got to work on so far.
Gonna try again opening with no plug-ins. |

Found the problem.
In doing some hard-drive cleaning the other day after switching entirely to PT 11 (and removing PT 10 from my drive); I seemed to have tweaked WAVES plugins. I could open each session with plugins inactive, then reactivate any plugin but WAVES without crashing. I suspected I might have effed up my Waves install, so I uninstalled Waves, and then fresh installed v9r13 and the Waves-AAX wrapper, and every session opened up without difficulty or crash. Got a little too deep into the corners with my dusting rag, evidently. |

It's best to always image your system drive before making ANY changes to it. Your nerves will thank you.
