Default O.T. Glyph Firewire doesn\'t unmount

Hi,
I just installed a new Western Digital WD800 disk in my Glyph 1U Firewire rack. I initialized the disk using "Glyph Audio Storage Toolkit"s auto initialize function and everything seemed to run o.k.

There's no problem copying files and reading back but when I drop the disk icon in trash and shut down Glyph, Mac says "A firewire disk has stopped responding...." thing.

What's weird is when I trash the original Glyph drives (which are IBMs) i hear a harddrive 'head parking' noise. There's no noise with Westerns.
(I also tried another -non Glyph- IBM and it was also ok)

Though the disk runs o.k. I need to solve this issue. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Initialize the disk using Mac OS disk utility.

It might be a solution, the other IBM I mentioned above was also formatted using Apple's, then what about the advantages of Glyph's own audio storage driver?

This may well have something to do with the difference between the IBM & Western Dig mechanisms. Most likely, Glyph had tuned the Firmware in the bridgeboard to work with their drives only, and so swapping them out isn't as easy as it seems. Of course, this is only speculation.

I believe you've shattered and burned the waranty by doing this, but it is worth calling them and asking. They're usually helpfull in any situation. After all, that's why you spent the money in the first place...
