Default The most stable version of PT

Wondering what everybody thinks is the most stable version of PT in the last few years. Is it my imagination or is everything since 7 been slowly heading down hill. Im not trying to bash Digi in anyway. I make a nice living using PT everyday but I cant help but notice that I have the same uneasy feeling these days as I did in PT version 4 and earlier. Pretty hit and miss when recording under the gun. About 3 or 4 times it has been a real show stopper. One that cost me the day. That hasnt happened since pre 5.0 days. Could it be that the paid updates are hard for Digi to resist? $150.00 x several thousand users a couple of times a year is a pretty nice bonus. Seems to me that as OS X matures and PT matures we could start to see crashes become a thing of the past? I guess not.

Just for the record I thought 6.9 was pretty stable as was the near final version on OS 9 PT 5.1.3

In my experience, PT 5.1.3 worked fastest and was most stable. It was as fast as I was, never kept me waiting (except maybe fades and rendering) Auditioning was instant, now auditioning in PT 7 I get the spinning ball for 3 or 4 seconds. Same thing for using X-Noise and other Audio Suite plugins. They used to be instant. Now I wait, and sometimes hold my breath..... In fact, in 7.2 if I got editing too fast, it would crash. Haven't had that happen yet with 7.3.1. Still holding my breath....

Would you say 7.3.1 is safe? I went to 7.2 with disastrous results. Could not master the art of the disappearing region. I work everyday in PT and can afford very little downtime. May stay at 7.1 for years!!

Well since I still have nightmares about the bad old days of OS9, so I have to vote for 6.4 running on a d24 or Mix rig. I ran an entire season of DX/SFX/ADR editing for a TV series with only 1 or 2 crashes the entire 22 episode run. It was OSX but not too fancy and solid as a rock. It seems that the upper 6 software was solid for some users but by the time I went to HD gear the 7.x race was on and I'm still hoping for the stability I left some 9 months ago.

Stability-wise, PT 6.4 with OSX 10.3.4 was the best in my book.
