Snap highlighted fader to S1 fader 1 WITH no mixer window shift …?
Hi all
I am hoping there is a way to do this: Snap highlighted fader to S1 fader 1 WITH no mixer window shift …? How I currently do this is whatever fader in the mix window that I am working on To get it to fader 1 on my s1 WITHOUT SHIFTING WHERE MY MIX WINDOW IS ALIGNED I click once on a random fader way to the right in the mix window Then I come back and click on the fader I want in the mix window to be fader 1 on my s 1 and that works perfectly. Just a little slow. And yes I know there is a right click command (and also a key command) to snap the current mix window fader to s1 fader # 1 BUT that also snaps that fader in the mix window to the far left and I do NOT want that to happen. As it messes up my mixer window view of how I like things arranged. (My active fader central -ish on my mix window dedicated visual monitor screen …not all the way to the left. ) Hope this makes sense - and hoping there is a way to do this. :-/ |

In Pro Tools, Setup>Preferences>Mixing:
Uncheck "Mix Window Follows Bank Selection" In Eucontrol, General, "Auto-bank to clicked track" (But not "auto-bank selected track" though -- you get one or the other but this one won't necessarily move the selected track to the fader 1; if the selected track is already visible on the S1, it just moves selection. If it is not visible on the S1, then it'll move it to fader 1 to make it visible)

And just curious - I’m unsure - if I click on a fader that is already on fader 2-8 on S1 will it hop to fader 1? Thx. |

No. If you want that, hold shift+control when you click on a track (Mac shortcut keys)

If you just want the clicked fader to be on the first S1 fader, why don't you just use Eucontrol layouts and assign S1, fader 1 to Attentioned Track?

And if I have flute as fader 1, I am usually guaranteed to then have oboe on 2, clarinet on 3 and bassoon on 4, for example. So if I want to grab bassoon fader I know it is on 4. However it might be worth the compromise to always have selected fader on fader 1, and just be mindful of my group status always. So I could ride the string section if I knew the string group was on…. Thx. |
