PT First New User How To Update From 12.3.1 to 12.8?

New to the system...

I'm not used to this system...

I have 12.3.x installed and running, but the APP Mgr. doesn't show an update.

I'm downloading the new version (12.8) as I type this and wondering how I should go about this?

Uninstall old followed by installing new? Seems harsh?

If I run the new Install download, will it correctly overwrite the 12.3 version? Will I end up with 2 versions?

Love to hear from some experienced users on this simple task?

You sign in to your Avid User account (avid.com) and click the first link "Products and Subscriptions"
Click the purple "Pro Tools | First" banner and then the Show link, there are you downloads.

You don't say whether you are on a Mac or PC.
On a Mac you just run the installer after you download it and that's it. If you want to keep the older PTF version, you just move it out of the Applications folder before yo install the new version and that's it. This way you can launch hold version or the new version of Pro Tools.

I already downloaded it I was just uncertain of procedure as I saw info instructing removal of PT First prior to installing a full version of PT... So I wanted to ask before making a mess...

I'm running PT First on a MacPro OS X 10.10.5

Is the 12.8 version a PT FT First update or are you trying to update from First to full version as that wont work without paying for the full version. You can only run the PT First updates free.

I'm only updating from PT First 12.3.1 to PT First 12.8

I ran the install and (mostly) all is well...
