No comparising. BF sounds no way near the originals. UA comes pretty close.

You're talking about two different technologies. The BF stuff is running on your Digi cards, the UA stuff on your UAD-1 card. With no other plugs running, your Digi cards are going to have more DSP power which means more instances. Also, with the UAD-1 RTAS limitations the BF stuff is more versatile and easier to use.

I can't comment on the TDM versions of the UA stuff, but the UAD-1 versions sound way better than the BF for most things. OTOH, I appreciate getting the BF plugs for free along with my system. Thanks Digi!

What sample rate are you talking about here? At 44.1k, I have more LA-2As than I can use on my UAD-1.

UA released the TDM versions of LA2A, Pultec, 1176LN/SE and the Cambridge. They sound pretty amazing to me at least. You can try out for 14 days if you want. Also have a look at the McDSP stuff. These are also available for a 14-day demo period.
I can't comment on the Bombfactory-stuff, but the things I hear and read, are not too good
