Default MIDI NOTES FROM STRIKE

I'm trying to figure out how to get STRIKE to record the midi notes -- I know that you can press the STRIKE key buttons while Pro-Tools is playing and then export the midi data after you've stopped and it will automatically create separate midi tracks for everything -- That's very cool except that it doesn't work any other way. In other words, if I open an instrument track, load in STRIKE, put notes into the midi track to trigger the various STRIKE "loops", work on editing the loops, get everything just the way I want..............I then cannot find a way to turn that track into midi notes -- If I try to export the data as per above, it just gives me a small portion of it (and not even from the beginning) -- There must be a way to just play that track and have it record the midi notes but so far nothing I've tried (including trying to take the midi out of ProTools hoping it would go into my keyboard, then taking the thru from my keyboard and sending it back into a recording midi track) has worked -- Any ideas???
