I just purchased a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 which comes with PT First. During the setup, Focusrite indicated that PT First is no longer available and has been discontinued by Avid. Here is a link to their online doc that says such: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-...o-Tools-First-


This is surprising, as I don't see anything about this here or on Avid's site. But I do see that PT First has been "down for maintenance" for a while. It's also disappointing, as I was really looking forward to using Pro Tools First.



I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, someone here knows something different -- as it is weird to hear about a discontinued product from a 3rd party before hearing about it from the actual manufacturer.

Is there a solution for this yet? I have been using the trial version that was given as an alternative while waiting for the PT1st download to become available. It has now expired and I am in the middle of an international project with no ability to record and no access to the projects I have been working on....

There's quite a few us wondering the same with no concrete feedback from AVID on a solution.

One of the deciding factors for buying M-Audio's Air interface was because it came with Pro Tools First as part of the package - we were offered a free 30 day trial of the full version while they worked on getting it back up and now the trial has run out in the middle of my project. Not a happy camper!!

Reposting for the sake of order - I had posted earlier but buried as reply to someone with a similar issue..

I received my new Air 192/4 about a month ago and after registering the product and downloading the drivers, etc, I tried to download the free Pro Tools First software package but received the following message:

"Pro Tools | First maintenance
Pro Tools | First is temporarily unavailable for technical reasons. While we fix the problems, please take Pro Tools for a spin by getting your free trial."

I managed to download the free trial software and have been using it since but it has now expired and I no longer have any recording software.

Is there an alternative on offer/available?

You can rent Pro tools for $34.99 monthly to finish your project. Perhaps not a perfect solution for you, but something to think about.
