Default HD Omni toggle between digital inputs? mixer

Hi I currently own a presonus central station. I have connected my macbook pro digital out and my cd player. I can toggle between those inputs with a switch.

How can I switch between the inputs when having Omni in standalone. lets say I have connected my cd player to aes 1-2 and my macbook to spdif

If I play from both at the same time , will I hear both at the same time?

if there is any noise from any of the inputs it then will be present all the time if Im not able to switch between. Central station can only switch to one source input at a time

thanks

On the Omni, it's either or. AES, Spidf Coax, and Spidf Optical all fall under "Digital input 1-2". If using the Omni standalone, you could technically switch between them by using the setup button on the unit itself, but it involves several button pushes through different menu layers every time you want to do it. It will be a real pain, and I wouldn't recommend doing it. If you want a good D/A converter, I would suggest buying a unit made for that like the Dangerous Source or something similar.

ok. thanks for reply:)

How about , if I buy a spdif switcher and connect my macbook pro outs and tascam CD player out to the spdif switcher and connect it to the omni. Will it work smooth in standalone if I only have the digital in 1-2 engaged in the mixer?

here is a spdif switcher from ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x1SPDIF-TOS...item3aa16bdf2e

will the omnui slave to the spdif input? will it stay in sync without pops7clicks?

thanks

I guess that should work, but I haven't used something like that before.

thanks again

ok I see.

Im asking because I want to be able to reference my mixes with my macbook pro and cd player through the same converter. and also be able to liten to all the music through the avid converters with pro tools closed. Right now I reference with different converters and the da s in my central station sound very different from the avid da s
