Exclamation Pro Tools doesn't start

Hey, I just installed Pro Tools v7.4 M-Powered on Windows 7 Ultimate because I also just bought the M-Audio Fast Track Pro and I wanted to find out what Pro-Tools can do. But my problem is that while Pro-Tools starts normally and starts loading things, it freezes when saying "Setting Up MIDI"... I tried everything... I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it about 2 or 3 times as well as the M-Audio drivers, too... Please help!! I am trying to fix it about three days and I feel like I threw my money away...

Only Pro Tools 8.0.3 is compatible with Windows 7, and it is still in BETA. It has many issues. I would recommend installing Windows XP with 7.4.

Thank you very much for your response!! Well, Pro Tools starts fine I think, but it sticks when saying "Loading MIDI"... Even if it's not compatitive with Win7, there is a "trick" on Win7, where you can run any program via any kind of windows... If you right click on Pro Tools' icon for example, and you go to "properties", you can change the compatibility of Windows, and make it run via Windows XP for example... I am not sure if you understand what I'm talking about, but this isn't my point (look up on the web for more about this "trick" on Win7)... Anyway, can you help me find the problem? I have installed more recording programs as well, but all stick when saying "loading MIDI" or "loading Plug-ins" or they do not even start... All my drivers are perfect and updated, as well as my settings...

Pro Tools is very picky about having everything setup exactly right. It took me months to get my system stable enough to work. Running it in a compatibility mode may work briefly, but you could run into many problems down the road.

I started with Win 7, PT 8.0.3. I am now on Windows XP PT 8.0.1cs1 as it is the most stable release. I would recommend going through all the recommended setup options in the stickies and what Digi recommends.

Post a Sandra report too - this will help identify any hardware incompatibilities.

I'll second the 8.0.1 cs1 w/ Windows XP SP3. I tried the 8.0.3 cs2 on WinXP and it didn't work well. Of course there's no point for me to update either since I use neither Win 7 or IE 8.
