connection an outboard pre to the 002
I'm going to GC to try out the UA 610 for a couple of weeks...Just curious how I connect it to the 002...Also, if I wanted a really XLR->XLR "patch" cable to connect from my monitors to the monitor inputs of the 002, how could I do this? There is no XLR monitor jack on the 002...Is this just not possible? Thank you

Re: connection an outboard pre to the 002
First, you want an XLR-f to TRS cable for the UA610. Patch it into 5-8 and set the little switch on the back to the +4 position. BTW, I love my LA610. Now, the monitors are fed from the monitor OUTPUTS and again, you just want the proper TRS cable(TRS outputs on the 002) to whatever your monitors need. If the monitors have combo jacks, either TRS or XLR will be fine(stay with balanced cables). There is no sonic difference between TRS and XLR plugs.
