12.7 / 10.12.3 Drop down menus stop functioning.

Having some desperately annoying issues with 12.7 on a 2016 Macbook Pro with 10.12.3. At seemingly random intervals, the drop down menus to instantiate plugins / set IO stop working - they flicker for a second but aren't accessible. The main menus at the top of the screen are accessible but don't do anything - so, for example, you hit cmd+s to save, and "File" flashes... but it doesn't save. Only way out is force quit and restart.

I made a video of the problem.

I've tried - removing as many plugins as possible, clearing preferences, uninstalling and reinstalling 12.7. I can't use 12.7.1 due to my subscription being lapsed.

Anyone seen something similar? Apologies if this is a duplicate - I searched the first few pages and couldn't see anything similar.

PS yes I realise 10.12.3 isn't officially supported yet. It came pre-installed.

Do you have force touch enabled? Maybe try turning it off and/or disabling some gestures? Can you try with a sep mouse?

Just throwing out ideas.

Force touch disabled - using a Magic Mouse 2. Will try turning that off and see if I get the same problem with the trackpad. Good thinking.

So I never did find out what was causing this. Since the project I was working on at the time of the OP, I was working mainly in Studio One 3, and had no problems at all. But I just had a project come in that needs to be done in PT - same problem. Has anyone else seen this at all? If you're new to the thread, have a look at the video in the first post. Many thanks all!

I ended up doing a full uninstall (following the instructions here) and then installing 12.6.1. I did a few hours of drum editing last night and it seemed to behave. I'm just glad it's not just me!

just re installed using the guide. but installed 12.7.1 problem still there. i'm guessing it must be 12.7.1? must be something that's unique to the mac book pro 16 as it's fine on my mac pro 13...

12.7 / 12.7.1 both exhibit the behaviour for me, but after the clear uninstall 12.6 is working ok so far.

just incase you are tempted 12.8 has the same problem!

did you do a migration or a fresh install when you bought the MacBook pro?
