Any Predictions or Rumors ?

Hi all, I was just wondering, (as I would like to get a M-Audio interface instead of a 003 for my soon to be MOBILE rig) does anyone know, or has anyone HEARD if Digidesign is ever going to or will eventually allow the Complete Production Toolkit to work on M-Powered software ?

If so, I wouldn't mind waiting (6 months to a year, whatever). But if not, then I will just get a 003 now.

OR has anyone heard if/when the 004 is coming out ? Or maybe just a new LE platform period ? So waiting would be best ?

Either way, I KNOW I need the track count that a CPTK offers, so that is my issue. BUT I love the smallness of some of the M-Audio Firewire interfaces vs the 003's, etc.... also, I don't like how Digi makes that 003 not accept TOSLINK, SMUX, the SPDIF OUT at 96k issue, etc... M-Audio interfaces don't have none of them limitations... BUT I need the CPTK for trackage. (oh the catch 22 - lol)

I also just hate buying things towards their "end", to then hear 2 months after I buy the product that a way better thing just came out that finally does everything I want it to do AND take up half the space. So if anyone has some good solid based predictions or heard any rumors that could help me make the best "timed" purchase to get everything I need/want in a interface, man, that would help.

I really don't wanna have to buy a 003, it just seems so late in its "life".

It seems unlikely that Digi would leak information about a product in development when they still want to make sales of an existing one, you know?

Sometimes they offer an upgrade path for customers who bought something late in its life, too, so there's that.

HD Mac users will remain convinviced that new hardware is just around the corner.

PC HD users will have a variety of of compliants whoe solution remains elusive.

LE users will clamor for ADC.

HD power will stay the same and prices will fall.

People will bitch about PT not being a native 64 bit app.

MPowered users will complain ubout not being able to use the CPTK.

There will be earthquakes and floods. People will die, babies will be born.

Some folks will be enlightend and some folks won't. Much discussion ensues as to which camp is which.

People will make music despite all this.

The Windows forum will start giving out Snacky Awards and most of us will still wonder what that means.

Thanks Alan for the (pretty much only) mature response here, lol - Yea I agree they wouldn't be likely to leak too much info about product development, but I figured a simple answer from anyone on whether the CPTK will ever be compatible with M-Powered would be totally possible.

You know back when TDM Mix was the top end thing from Digi, I got inside news about HD coming out months before it did. Same thing with Accel. So it is possible to get this kind of info, I guess asking it here though is what my mistake was... ha ha..

I'm really just pointing out that the more things change the more they stay the same. And the the same subjects get debated over and over. Digi tends to keep pretty dang mum about things and 11R was pretty much a bolt out of the blue. The other side of the coin is that the MBox 2 Micro was pretty much a given if you read through the lines of a survey they had sent out. So the hints are sometimes there.

I was hoping you would see the intended humor and not take it as a slight.

Oh definitely Sunburst, I did enjoy your post. And I hope you didn't think I was wishing you didn't post it. Both yours and ejwells was cool. Hey, any promotion is good promotion ! Keeps the thread at the top of the list either way.

And ultimately I did read inbetween the lines on yours, and noted there was actual answers for me in there. You are spot on on a few things, and hopefully on another few you are not -- lol...
