sound coming out of wrong speaker in 5.1 setup :-(
Hi! I´m trying to put a HD 2 system together and everything works perfect working with stereo mixing put when creating a 5.1 session the surround-panning is hey-wire!
Left speaker is correct, sound panned to centre speaker comes out of Right front, panning to LS sound comes out of RS. On top of that one of the speakers were DOA so when panning to Right speaker nothing comes out...and that is setup to the RS output. This is probobly just a laughable thing but this is the first time I´ve put together a HD-system so I´m not sure what to do. We´ve got a 192 i/o that sends the signal analog to a SPL Surround Monitor Controller. I´ve checked the connections 4 times - they are correct and I don´t know what more to do. As I mentioned above, stereo mixes work correct with panning Left and Right. Writing this makes me feel that the SPL is the faulty piece here... Please help! iMartin

Re: sound coming out of wrong speaker in 5.1 setup :-(
Hmmm...did you verify in the I/O Setup that things are routed properly? I *think* the default config for stereo is simply L->Out 1, and then R->Out 2; but for 5.1, the default is L, C, R, Ls, Rs, Sub...no? Unless you specified DTS/Pro Control monitoring during PT install, in which case it would be L, R, Ls, Rs, C, Sub. The former would then have your right channel mis-outputted, and could potentially result in a bit of fun...

I cheched those things as well...I think I´ve narrowed it down to be a faulty snakecable between SPL and speakers...

Re: sound coming out of wrong speaker in 5.1 setup :-(
well after many test and hairs pulled out we finally manage to find a guy to help us out. seems that there was a was a conflict between 192 i/o and SPL. Protools was sending out signal standard 5.1 (L C R LS RS LFE) but SPL was working in SMPTE...oh well it´s all sorted out now!
