Re: Any way to disable some of Avid's new shortcuts?
The N key is horrible though. Main reason why I never switched to using keyboard focus.

Re: Any way to disable some of Avid's new shortcuts?
I also agree that “doubling up” the function of the down and up keys so that they sometimes act as cursor chasers and sometimes act as MIDI note changers, depending on certain viewing criteria, is very poor indeed. It’s almost like these decisions are made by (whisper it) people who don’t use the software much at all...

But they could allow users to make they kb command then a function to save this setting and restore to the standard commands. Every user could load his setting everywhere then restore to the default after leaving the station for others.

Re: Any way to disable some of Avid's new shortcuts?
N key misfires drive me crazy. So annoying.
Also hitting S by mistake when trying to Save and you end up trimming tracks. Would love the ability to enable/disable Key Commands. Not change them, but rather just choose which are active.

Re: Any way to disable some of Avid's new shortcuts?
Sorry, would have answered the first time you asked but the smiley face made me think you were just having a laugh.
But it is as Stig said. And you can clearly tell when it is on or off by looking at the indicator under the tools in the top left of the edit page. (Insertion follows playback is just a fancy way of saying "return where you started from or continue playing from where you stop each time you stop playback")

Re: Any way to disable some of Avid's new shortcuts?
Mac - Keyboard Maestro
This can be used to create custom shortcuts, but it will also disable PT shortcuts. Here's a macro which disables N. No actions are programmed, so nothing happens when "N" is pressed. PROBLEM Typing "n" in Pro Tools e.g. renaming a clip does not work. Shift+n still works. Here's another macro which will type "n" when ctrl+alt+cmd+n is pressed. I'm not an expert in Keyboard Maestro, so there may be better ways of doing this. Keyboard Maestro trial available at: https://www.keyboardmaestro.com/main/

Re: Any way to disable some of Avid's new shortcuts?
So, this is an interesting aspect of one of my other favorite programs - which happens to now be owned by Avid - Sibelius.
For a while now, it's been exceedingly easy to create your own custom keyboard shortcuts [within the program]. Another nice feature is that you can see the shortcuts in every menu (even your new custom ones), something I wish PT would adopt. Since Avid owns the program, they ought to be able to adapt this code into PT. I'm not a coder but I feel like this is logical.
