Default 2022.4 best macOS on Mac Pro 2013

I have been running Pro Tools Ultimate 2021.12 on macOS Mojave and it has been reasonably solid on a Mac Pro 2013 10 core. I have a secondary system for testing that is identical and would like to start testing 2022.4. I tend to like to move as far forward as safe when I do upgrade, so it might be a good time to migrate to Big Sur or Monterey. I was going to do a Carbon Copy from one system to the other in Target Disk mode, upgrade macOS and then upgrade Pro Tools on the Target/Test system (hoping to avoid starting from a blank drive because it takes days to get all the plugins and sample libraries working again, with lots of heading scratching).

I would appreciate insights into which macOS is best at this time, as well as any other suggestions.

Thanks…

Monterey has felt the best so far.

Big Sur or Monterey at this point.

I’m on a 6-core trashcan with 64gb of RAM.

Although PT2022 isn’t officially supported on Mojave, Avid say there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work.

I found there to be a significant drop in available CPU resources when I’ve tried upgrading to newer OSes on a secondary boot, so have stayed at Mojave with zero stability issues.

I’m using the rig a solid 8 hours or so every day with large numbers of plugins.

That’s unfortunate news. With Mojave unsupported, and moving to a newer OS being a performance step backward in CPU Usage/efficiency, it is a problem… especially when using VIs… Argh!

Avid does not say it's unsupported but they will no longer be testing on Mojave. That's actually a step they normally don't take and would usually have just dropped a four year old OS. I believe they realize that a sizable portion of the pro studio world is still running cheese graters.

Mac:

Intel® Mac with macOS 10.14.6, 10.15.7, 11.6, 12.3 (PT 2021.12 and later with 2022.2 Plugins)
(please find version specific qualifications in the macOS Compatibility Grid below)
