Pro Tools 11 activation error-licensing service not running error message
Receiving error message: "The licensing service required to activate this software is not running. Please reinstall the product or download and run the ilok license manager here: http://www.ilok.com"
I get this message I would say every second time I open pro tools. Most times, closing the program and opening it again solves the problem, but it is just a huge inconvenience. I can usually still open my session but it seems to knock out a couple of my plugins when it happens, most commonly the maxim plugin. I have tried reinstalling the ilok license manager, but it hasn't solved the problem. Have not tried to reinstall pro tools all together yet. If anybody has any idea of how to solve this issue it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to google the duc and didn't find much on this issue. Thanks, Matt Here is my technical information: Computer Model: GigaByte GA-A75-UD4H Processor: AMD A6-3650 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (4C 2.6GHz, 667MHz IMC, 1MB L2) OS Version: Windows System : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.01.7601 (Service Pack 1) Platform Compliance : x64 Pro Tools Version: Pro Tools 11.2.2 Amount of Ram Installed: 8.00 GB (7.50 GB Usable) Hard Drives: WDC WD2500AAJS-22RYA0 (250GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 8MB Cache) : 233GB (C:) (NTFS File System - Internal SATA Connection - Using for Storage/Video playback/Operating System) WDC WD2003FZEX-00Z4SA0 (2TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) : 2TB (D:) (NTFS File System - Internal SATA Connection - Using for recording/playback and storage of current ongoing pro tools sessions) USB20FD (F:) (FAT32 File System - USB Connection to 1 of 6 USB Ports on back of computer - Using for storage and Waves plugin licenses) D-Link DWA-125 USB Wireless Internet Connection (Used to connect to internet as desktop has no internal wireless card - Plugged into 1 of 2 USB Ports on top of computer case) Interface: Presonus Firestudio Project 10x10 24bit, 96Khz Firewire Recording System SiSoftware Sandra ID Host Name : Matt-PC Workgroup : WORKGROUP Computer Model : GigaByte GA-A75-UD4H Chassis : GigaByte Desktop Mainboard : GigaByte GA-A75-UD4H BIOS : Award (OEM) F7 11/02/2011 Total Memory : 7.5GB DIMM DDR3 Processors Processor : AMD A6-3650 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (4C 2.6GHz, 667MHz IMC, 1MB L2) Socket/Slot : FM1g1 (PGA) Chipset Memory Controller : AMD F12 (Llano) APU Root Port 100MHz Memory Controller : AMD F12/14 (Brazos/Llano) APU Root Complex 100MHz, 2x 4GB DIMM DDR3 1.33GHz 128-bit Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Kingston 99U5471-012A00LF 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700U DDR3-1334 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : Kingston 99U5471-012A00LF 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700U DDR3-1334 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Video System Monitor/Panel : IBM L171 (1600x1200, 17.1") Video Adapter : AMD Radeon HD 6530D (SM5.0 444MHz, 512MB DDR3 1.33GHz 128-bit, Integrated Graphics) Graphics Processor Compute Shader Processor : AMD Radeon HD 6530D (444MHz, 512MB DDR3 1.33GHz 128-bit, Integrated Graphics) Storage Devices WDC WD2500AAJS-22RYA0 (250GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 8MB Cache) : 233GB (C:) WDC WD2003FZEX-00Z4SA0 (2TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) : 2TB (D:) PNY USB 2.0 FD (16.1GB, USB2) : 15GB (F:) TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222BB (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : N/A (E:) Logical Storage Devices WIN7 (C:) : 233GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD2500AAJS-22RYA0 (250GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 8MB Cache) Sessions (D:) : 2TB (NTFS) @ WDC WD2003FZEX-00Z4SA0 (2TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) Removable Drive (F:) : 15GB (FAT32) @ PNY USB 2.0 FD (16.1GB, USB2) Optical Drive (E:) : N/A @ TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222BB (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : ATI (AMD) Hudson LPC Bridge LPC Legacy Controller 1 : ITE IT8720F Audio Device : Gigabyte BeaverCreek HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 6500D and 6400G-6600G series] Audio Codec : ATI (AMD) HDMI Audio Audio Device : Gigabyte Hudson Azalia Controller Audio Codec : Realtek Semi High Definition Audio Serial Port(s) : 1 Disk Controller : Gigabyte Hudson SATA Controller [IDE mode] Disk Controller : Gigabyte Hudson IDE Controller USB Controller 1 : Gigabyte Hudson USB XHCI Controller USB Controller 2 : Gigabyte Hudson USB XHCI Controller USB Controller 3 : Gigabyte Hudson USB OHCI Controller USB Controller 4 : Gigabyte Hudson USB EHCI Controller USB Controller 5 : Gigabyte Hudson USB OHCI Controller USB Controller 6 : Gigabyte Hudson USB EHCI Controller USB Controller 7 : Gigabyte Hudson USB OHCI Controller USB Controller 8 : Gigabyte Etron USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : Gigabyte VIA VT6308 1394 OHCI Controller SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : ATI SB800 SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : PDFCreator (4000x4000, Colour) Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Printer : HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z (1200x1200, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Printer : CutePDF Writer (4000x4000, Colour) Scanners and Cameras Scanner : Hewlett-Packard 4500 G510n-z,192.168.2.11 (Scanner, 2400x2400, USB) Peripherals Media Player : PNY USB 2.0 FD (15GB) Network Services Wireless Adapter : D-Link DWA-125 Wireless N 150 USB Adapter(rev.A3) (802.11n (HT), AES-CCMP, 72Mbps) Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.01.7601 (Service Pack 1) Platform Compliance : x64 Windows Experience Index Current System : 5.9 |

Re: Pro Tools 11 activation error-licensing service not running error message
Since the I-lok is a USB device, double check and make sure you DISABLED all your USB power management. It shuts off USB ports when the computer "thinks" they're not being used.

Quote:
Step #2 if it happens again, open Task Manager and click the Services tab and find PaceLicenceDServices and see if it says Running in the Status column. If its not, right-click on it and try starting it. If that works, open Services and make sure Pace is set to start automatically (which it should by default, but stranger stuff has happened). What interface are you using? If its firewire, be aware that the VIA FW controller(kudos for posting the Sandra) may not be compatible for audio(a FW card with a TI chipset could be a solution for this). Last bit of info; integrated graphics has historically been a "show stopper" with Pro Tools. Not sure that is the case now, or with this motherboard, but you may get better performance by disabling the onboard graphics and installing a modest nVidia card(210 or 610 card with 1GB of Dram is plenty for PT use and should cost you under $50). Food for thought

Re: Pro Tools 11 activation error-licensing service not running error message
albee1952 - Thanks a lot! Since I posted this originally the issue had actually gotten worse and was not letting me open pro tools at all! Followed your step #2 suggestion and it is working again!
I am using a firewire interface. Haven't had any issues with the interface so far! Not sure what you mean when you say "be aware that the VIA FW controller may not be compatible for audio" I don't have much knowledge on technical computer things! Learning new things every day it seems. As for the graphics card, Ill definitely take a look into that as well! Thanks a lot for the information! |

Re: Pro Tools 11 activation error-licensing service not running error message
Most DIgi/Avid firewire devices work much better using a firewire controller with a Texas Instruments chip...SIIG in particular makes the most widely-used FW card for Pro Tools. Onboard firewire with ProTools has proven to be chancy at best.

Re: Pro Tools 11 activation error-licensing service not running error message
Bumping as I'm facing the same problem. PT knocks down a few plugins from time to time. A couple of restarts will usually do the trick, but it's annoying nonetheless.
Any other tips?
