Pro Tools LE 7.4 hangs on startup

Hi,

I've been running Pro Tools LE for several months now without any issues...until today. When I try to launch Pro Tools LE nothing happens: I don't see a splash window, no checks to the 003 Factory to see if it's on, etc. However, I do see the ProToolsLE executable in the Processes table in the Task Manager (but not in the Applications tab).

I've read several threads (here and elsewhere) for people having similar problems, but their solutions haven't worked thus far. I've tried the following (none have worked):
- Checking the ExceptionLogFiles (no exceptions)
- Deleting DAE Prefs and Digidesign folders on C: drive.
- Moving Chorus.dpm and DigiReWire out of the Plugins folder
- Running the Registry Cleaner from McAfee QuickClean, rebooting and relaunching ProTools
- Disabling all virus software and relaunching Pro Tools

I'm currently running Pro Tools 7.4.0.309. I've attached the Version List and Sandra report below.

The main things that have changed in my system is that I installed a new game (Demigod from Stardock) which installed Impulse application, the game itself, and required an update to IE 8, and .NET 2.0. I also ran a Windows Update that applied some updates (not sure of all of the changes).

Any ideas which change (if any) could have caused the problem? Or if it sounds like another problem? I'm really not sure how to debug the issue.

Try rolling back to IE 7. IE 8 is known to break PT.

This is where Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost is your BEST friend. Image before updating - it doesn't work out - image back. It's like time travel and far more reliable and uses far less system resources than System Restore.
