Default 002Rack Questions

Ok, a few questions about the 002rack.
#1. How many channels of adat can you actually run at 96 k, isn't the optical cable only capable of 4 at 96k and not 8, if that's the case does it have 2 adat ins and outs or are you just s.o.l. on running your octopre/digimax at all 8 channels?
#2. What plugins does the 002rack come with, I've not been able to find a list, does it have sound replacer (praying for that one)because the regular 002 was coming with that for a while wasn't it?
#3. Not really an 002 question but a compatibility question, I have a p4 1.6g, 845 chipset, would I need to upgrade really badly and if so what would you guys suggest a 2.0 or more?

Thanks Alot

-Kevin

Yes. You need to b/c the 002/r has no clock output. BTW, there are two digital modes on the 002's: RCA/OPTICAL=SPDIF/ADAT and RCA/OPTICAL=OFF/SPDIF. Optical can only recieve 96k in stereo spdif mode (the second option i listed), leaving you with only 10 channels at 96k. Also, I don't believe soundreplacer was ever bundled with any of the 002 systems. I'm not positive, but I don't think there is a bundle for the 002R at all.

#1 There can be NO 96kHz signals transferred over the optical interface in ADAT mode. You can transfer 2 in s/pdif mode, for a total of 12 total channels of 24/96 i/o. Don't be too upset, HDR's like the Tascam MX2424 cut their channels in half when running in 24/96, and PT LE 6.1 can still mix 32 tracks of 24/96.

#2 Ask the retailer you're buying from to be sure, different packages might come out at different times

#3 If you intend to mix at 24/96, go LONG on CPU and memory bandwidth, and jump on SATA drives when they become cost-effective.

if that's the case on optical (which i think i've read elsewhere wasn't how it worked) would i still want to use the octopre as a digital clock?
