volume inconsistent from mac to pc with mp3 codec
I'm working with protools 6.4 on my mac powerbook g4 and recently bought the mp3 codec for import/export on this format.
To my surprise, my final volume setting sounds perfectly on any mac, but when played on any PC, my mp3 audio file's volume drops considerably. Can anyone give me an answer as to why??? |

Re: volume inconsistent from mac to pc with mp3 codec
Thank you so much for your help Rail, the reference level and mastering explanation helps understand the whys. But now I need the hows, how do I attack this problem, is there something I can do within my PT session, before bouncing the final file to prevent this from happening, (which sounds to me like an obvious no), or can the reference level on the PC hardware or player that will playback my file for the presentation on, a flash or captivate project, be adjusted, not having to use the normalize option on any of these softwares other than the normalization already used in PT? your thread replies are focused on the headphone mixing situation.
