Default Just had a quote....

Just been quoted on a custom built pc spec as follows:

Intel core i5 - 2400 3.10 GHz processor
Gigabyte SK1155 H67MA MATX DDR3 USB2 Mainboard
Gigabyte MicroATX Case 430W PSU
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
1TB SATA 32MB 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive
22x Dual Layer DVD+RW & RAM SATA Drive
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 Bit

Is this a good deal and is there anything I should that may be an issue?

What are you using for a second dedicated hard drive?

What are you using for a video card?

What interface are you using?

You have DDR3 which, with only 4 gb, will run at DDR2, you need the RAM in threes to get the DDR3 speed, so 6 gb would be better. And, IIRC, the CPU has integrated graphics, which can be problematical for Pro Tools. And it's only an i5 and an i7 would be better. As Tom mentioned, you also need a separate physical hard drive for your sessions.

First page of the i7 thread has the parts and configurations for a stable, powerful Pro Tools computer. Spend a little more money and a little more research time now and less time on computer problems later.

Cheers,

The X58 Chipset is proving to be reliable as well. Not sure what Chipset that MB has.

A 430 PSU might be a little weak for what your going to need, especially if you decide to add another HDD or 2 (other than the 2 needed) for VI's, etc...... Mike
