Default Recording Server-based audio clips

Hi Guys:

I will soon be loading Pro Tools M-Powered and I'd like to know in advance if it's possible
use PT to record the 30-second Rear Audio or Windows Media player audio clips of some of
the audio tracks of albums posted at sites like Amazon and Tower.com. I buy lots of CDs,
though sometimes months apart, so that's the easiest way for me to remember to buy albums
of songs I want.

Please describe the steps to record the clips and then save them as WAV files on my
dedicated audio file storage hard drive.

Thanks

Raffaella

this would probably be easiest to do with TWO computers.

one as the "playback" computer (must have a working sound card).

the other will be the pro tools computer that you record into.

connect the sound card output to the input of pro tools.

doing this with just one computer will be difficult (if possible at all), because pro tools has a tendancy to dominate the audio hardware / sound card once it is loaded.

audacity seems to be able to record streams like you're trying to do:
