Mackie Onyx 1640i and PT 10
I've been hired to do a project with many songwriters, musicians and vocalists, and I will have to do some recordings on location. I really don't wanna take with me my PPC + screen, 192 I/O, preamps+++.
But, I have a new iMac coming, and I have available to me an Onyx 1640i. Have any of you tried an Onyx? With PT? I've heard that the preamps have been improved greatly, and that it may actually be usable. The other thing to consider is - analog out on the DB25's, or use FW? All thougths and insight appreciated - hugely! Thank you!

Re: Mackie Onyx 1640i and PT 10
Hey Stig, I use Onyx 820i with LOUD ASIO for Pro Tools and Ableton Live with no problems. Skype me if you have any questions.

Re: Mackie Onyx 1640i and PT 10
Anyone tried daisy-chaining an Onyx and an external audio drive to an iMac? Supposedly, there could be issues with the Onyx in this scenario.
Also, could I use Eleven rack at the same time? Thanks.

Re: Mackie Onyx 1640i and PT 10
The Pro Tools Audio Engine will be Onyx and your Eleven Rack will be an external signal processor. To Re-Amp Pro Tools requires switching drivers.
