Default PT8 = great

Hi.
I have both PT8 LE for my main studio and M-powered for my home editing/recording with MPTK2 and I have to say, well done DIGI. I have both versions on Dell computers and it is rock solid. If I should mention something, then it would be that the GUI is different and not so easy to follow any longer. The tracks are now harder to separate visually, but that is just a minor adjustment for me.

What impressed me are mainly two things. The playlist function and the ELEVEN amp sim is kicking ass. I have tried allot of amp sims on the puter, but nothing beats this. My main guitar rig consists of a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier +++ and it is hard to get a good sound into my mixes. With Eleven I can now record my sound using this peace of software at home with excellent results. Well done Digi.

I would love to se more amp models in this software. Hope Digi model others like; Peavey 5150, Mesa Boogie Mark IV, a good Fender amp, Diezel, Krank etc.

Digi, PDC please J

Hi.
Just tweaked the Mesa Boogie modern with some Treble and mid + gain.
Needed a Gate after this plugin to tighten it up, but for me it sounded great. I use a Esp Eclipse with emg mics. Sounds great.

Eleven is an amp simulator, not a distortion plug-in. You may want to do a search on the DUC for 'Eleven', as there are many, many threads on how to get the best sounds out of it.

Funny how people's opinions differ.

I thought, after trying many amp sims, that the distortion in the Eleven sounded better than anything I've heard so far. The only complaint I have with it is the background noise. Turn up the gain and there's a lot of noise going on. The gate doesn't seem to help either....once you start playing the noise is right there in the background again.

Other than that, sounds great.

Eleven Free (which comes with Pro Tools 8) only has two amp models. The original poster has the music production toolkit which now comes with the full version of Eleven. You didn't miss anything, you just need to try the full version. A 14 day trial is available from the digi site.

Sorry. Forgot to mention that I bought the MPTK2 just for the Eleven plug-in. jimst57, I agree the noise is there and with many amps its realistic, but my mesa don't produce that much noise. Now I can be at home recording ideas etc with a much better and realistic sound than with my Tone Port X2 or Guitar rig.

Just hope Digi can create more amp options.
Here are links to my studio and my band: Some videos from the recording in progress and sound clips etc. The language is mostly in Norwegian and allot of internal bad humor.
