Default AC3 encoding soft...again but maybe ?

Hi !

Browsing the net, I've found this company :
http://www.surcode.com/ , a subdivision of minnetonka audio.
They have an AC-3 encoder for Dolby Digital, (Dolby approved) capable of timestamping TC in the final file....
I'd like to know what are the Pros thinking about it ? I've read many times that software encoders doesn't offer TC timestamp, so that's why they're pretty useless (Kind of loud) and you have to buy the rather expensive Dolby hardware
Could this be a reliable alternative ?

I haven't used them.. but KindOfLoud makes SmartCode Pro for PT.. unfortunately, I don't believe it's available for HD yet.

I have been testing Surcode....TC stamoing doesn;t seem to work properly. Also, there is no provision to change the TC rate (Not even DF to NDF). so this prog has limited use. Granted, I have not spoken w/ Minnetonka yet,but will be doing so next week.

Maybe this could be great news but this soft's PC only....besides, it's around 1K $ so tht's kind of expensive....

I can't see the prices coming down. I'm sure they have to pay a hefty price to dolby to license the technology.

Remeber, their hardware boxes go for around $5k each for encoder and decoder.
