Default Re: Problems with PTLE? Post your configuration he

Hello I have this problem:
When I want to create a new protocols file other than 44.1 KHZ I get the following error:

Could not create new document because pro tools could not set sample rate to specified value. Please exit all other audio applications and try again.

But I’m not running any other application than pro tools…

I’m running an MBOX 2 pro on:

Motherboard: Asus A8N-E
CPU: AMD ATHLON 64 3500+
Firewire pci-card : VIA VT6306
Videocard : NVIDIA Geforce 6500
Harddisks: MAXTOR 6V200E0
SEAGATE: ST3160021A
Memory: 1024MB
OS: Windows XP SP2

I did a reinstall of windows but that didn’t work. I’ve tried an other firewire card, that didn’t work either.
Other audio applications DO work with other sample rates on my MBOX 2 pro.
Help me please!

jdl280, thanks for posting your system specs, but are you having a problem with your system? If so what is it?

Eruk, your problem could be caused by a number of things, but here are two things to check quickly;
  • if you are using your Digidesign hardware for your default windows soundcard, make sure to turn off system sounds
  • make sure quicktime is not holding on the the digidesign hardware by right clicking the quicktime icon in the status tray and select exit
These are two typical cases where another application can be using the hardware, but it is not readily apparent and you could be unaware of it.

Wow.

Well, the "path to inf" problem sounds like the old Cubase SX uninstall issue. Other than that, I think a clean uninstall would be the only other suggestion.

But...

You've got quite a few problems there, and I'm honestly surprised you ever had Pro Tools running on that system in the first place.
Quote:
Adapter : ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series
This chipset has been known to cause issues. Though it is not on the compatibility pages (I'm honestly not sure WHY it's not on there), but it is listed on the General Troubleshooting thread.
Quote:
Hard Disk : Initio ST3300631A IEEE 1394 SBP2 Device
This external drive uses the Initio chipset, not the recommended Oxford 911 chipset. It could cause problems.

I honestly don't believe that is what is causing your current problem, but those issues would definitely need to be addressed before using Pro Tools further.

Hi,

Here's the deal:

In the edit window, the tool buttons and the counter become greyed out - the same color as the backround. This happens when dragging an automation breakpoint across the edit window. It happens in time with the dragging action, ie: the gray drags across with the cursor. Hope I'm being clear.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

BTW: This is a new system. I've run the dual hot fix and XP tips.

Oh yeah...I can bring back the buttons by clicking where they're supposed to be. The counter though, does not respond when I click on it.

Thanks, Dave

I am thinking of buying a new computer with a E6300 core2duo processor and a 865G chipset. Does anybody know if this will work with my Digi001 without any problem?

Hi MvdP,

I do know that if you're using an 001 with 6.4 (the last version compatible with the 001),that you will have to disable one core of your CPU, thus you'll be unable to take advantage of the dual core.

I'm not up on my chipset compatibility but you can look in the compatibility section of the digi site to see if it is incompatible, and/or post your question here as a general thread(not in "trouble with your configuration"). You will get a quicker answer.

Peace, Dave
