Default PT 2022 release?

It’s already 1pm on 1/1/22 on the US east coast and no 2022.1 release yet? Come on Avid.

JK

Happy New Year!

Up until now, new releases of PT arrived on the even months. 2.22.2022. In Australia, with our day/month configuration, 22.02.2022, it was a palindrome. Can't get much more even than that. Still, no release! AVID are a dour bunch. They are not the least bit interested in customer relations.

I’d rather wait a little while longer for them to work new bugs out (there’s always gonna be a few, right?) than have them release something that isn’t ready, just for the sake of releasing it. Meanwhile, I’m getting everything done that I need to with 2021.12.

Since many of Avid's products are being developed in the Ukraine I can imagine there could be delays in update roll-out coming. Since the terrible events of this morning, the engineers in Kyiv really have other problems to care about. I wish everyone is safe there!

Yep. Kinda puts a few bugs in some software into perspective. I hope everyone there stays safe.

Terrible what is going on there. I hope they send an intergalactic ass-rocket up Putin’s hole. Be well and stay safe everyone.

I thought Avid releases new updates every 3 months. So, I'm expecting a March release - but yes, the invasion might change that. Sad for Ukraine.

Have Avid made any kind of statement regarding the situation in Ukraine? It seems beyond petty to grumble about updates if their entire workforce is caught up in this atrocity. But I don’t know the facts, what proportion might be affected and what the impact for us might be (trivial though it seems).

Just think a statement would be helpful all round and wishing everyone working for Avid is safe (somehow).

Let's just hope everyone can get out safe from the terrorist Putin. I needs to be erased.

As far as I know, the main programmers are in Ukraine. So I don't think we will see any updates for a long while.
I kind of think there won't even be a release this year with what has happened.

I'm in the boot of new MBP, but I have heard some people are able to use pro tools fine, no avid bundle but some other plugins are working and their are releases coming out that should at least cover Monterey.

PT isn't supported in Monterey but if it is working, then it is working for some people. Stop updating the OS.
Turn off automatic updates.

I'm shocked people still update on a new release and then complain it doesn't work.

Entirely possible, but it's all supposition unless Avid actually say something.

I'd hope every Avid customer would be understanding about a break in updates. But it does break a kind of contract - the product is sold on the basis of ongoing updates (perpetual license holders of PT Ultimate pay $399 for these). I'd hope that, in good faith, Avid HQ would roll on these contracts for the length of time that no updates have been possible.
