What other devices do you have connected to the computer and to which ports are they connected?
Thanks for your replay,
I've never used the Mbox2 Pro with its power supply, only through firewire;
I also use a Command 8, which by the way has often another strange behaviour, tho not related with the these dae errors;
it happens that when I switch on the Command8 it doesn't follow the usual start up routine,
instead the faders do not move and the lcd display is half visible, but what's worse, PT do not recognise it;
so I try switching off and on the unit for several time untill it get back to the normal state,
but this doesn't always help, often I have to wait hours or days before getting it to work again;
I controlled the output voltage of the Command8 power supply, which seems to be normal;
anyway, the error messages appear also with the Command8 not connected to the G5_

Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard can cause problems. A clean install of Leopard and PT8 has fixed the issue for many people.

Having a previous version of Pro Tools installed before installing PT8 can cause problems. Usually a clean uninstall of the previous version and PT8, then reinstalling just PT8 has also worked for many.

yeah, i'm still using tiger and PT 7... regardless, it all seems preventable on PT's end(like make a version that doesn't go to crap if you don't think to do a clean uninstall of the last version)... or at the very least foreseeable and provide some serious warnings or instructions of some kind. i upgraded to tiger specifically for the mbox2 and PT 7. man i wish i hadn't. sorry... i'm just real frustrated.

Have you ever connected the Command|8 to another computer and, if so, does it exhibit the same behavior? Is it still in warranty? If so, you may want to contact tech support to have it looked at.

Just to be clear - I need to know ALL the devices attached to your computer, including keyboards, mice, hubs, printers, hard drives, etc and to which port they're connected.

We did not see any of these problems during testing or from beta reports - and the overall number of reports is very low compared to the number of people using Pro Tools 8. If we had foreseen this, we definitely would have made it known - once we started to see a few of these pop up, we put a note in the Technical Alerts here on the DUC, to hopefully head off a few problems.

in my studio I've always used an Airport Extreme base with no problems with PT 7.4;
Zeze - do you have that enabled when you're using Pro Tools? If so - please disabled it as well as any other bluetooth or wireless devices.

Have you gone through all the optimizations in the General Troubleshooting thread yet?

Can you please post a plug-in version list using the Tech Support Utility from that thread?

yes, I have connected the C8 to my MacBook Pro with still the same strange behaviour;
unfortunately the unit is no longer in warranty, I called the tech support here in Italy and they told me that
probably it would cost so much to repair it that would be better to buy a new one,
which is not very encouraging as answer;
btw, I did all of the optimizations suggested in the General Troubleshooting thread,
I also disconnected the Airport base and every device but the keyboard and the mouse;
i run the TSU to generate the version list, which oddly enough shows like this:

I too am having all the problems described here. My issue can be - at this point - narrowed to any session that has Reason in it. For example: I have a session with one MIDI track and one instrument track. The instrument track has reason in it running 1 combinator and 1 dr rex loop. It is 45 seconds long and it's a miracle if it will get all the way through. My installation process was

I have installed OS 10.5.6

I have done a clean install of PT 8

I reinstalled Reason, when I knew I had a problem.

I have - i believe - updated or deleted any non-leopard compatible plugins (list to follow)

I have followed all the advice listed on your sticky eg deleting pref, databases etc

and I still can't get it to work smoothly

My system spec is

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB

My Plug in list - as with the above poster - does not seem to have any version numbers. It's interesting that of all the posters on this thread only he and I are running 10.5.6. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can we get this solved.

zeze:
To get the version list, firstly you need to have the pro tools program started. Secondly, the file to which the version list is written must _not_ exist previously, if it does, delete it or at least move or rename it.
