Default Apogee AD-16X and 001?

Has anyone ever used these two together?

We'd like to tranfer 16 tracks from an Otari tape machine to a hard drive to mix at another location. We're equipped with the XLR harness and AES as well. My main concern right now is with clocking. Could we clock via lightpipe? The studio is equipped with an Echo Layla or something similar as well. Does anyone have any suggestions or words of advice?

Thanks.
