Default Can Native Instrument Kontakt Libraries be shared across OS partitions?

Have just got Pro Tools up & running on a separate Sequoia partition.

Easily the biggest install I have are my Kontakt instruments (around 200gb) which are currently in my Monterey/Users/Shared folder.

Can I just reference them there? Or is that a recipe for disaster?

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has done this.

Cheers

**Ok Update**

Seems I can use Native access & point each library (one at a time) to the other partition. No way to batch do it.

Hopefully this doesn't break anything on the Monterey side!

Hello,
I have all my VI libraries on a separate drive, which allows me to perform various tasks without considering them. I simply need to point to the folder as needed.

Thanks, yes I've got as far doing that now. When I launch Kontakt it shows all the libraries (from my Monterey partition), but they all have a little 'activate' icon on them, & only run in demo mode.

When I click 'activate', it launches 'Native Access', I put in my Komplete Ultimate serial number, & it tell's me all is good. However despite relaunching Pro Tools etc, Kontakt libraries stay in demo mode. Bit of a head scratcher. Pretty sure i've had this issue before, its why I avoid upgrading more than once every few years :)

Any thoughts on how to fix this would be appreciated, before I 'Kontakt' the dreaded tech support .

Ive just tried reinstalling one of the libraries on the Sequoia partition, & the 'activate' button still pops up, so that rules out one issue.

Cheers

Same. 99% of all my samples are on external drives. VIs are good about allowing relocation of their media to any connected location.

What happens if you put your samples outside of any macOS installation?
Maybe, an I'm just guessing here, it's an issue with permissions? Just put your samples on a dedicated drive. That way you should be able to reference to your samples from different systems.

yeah good call. I'll try that too. It has been working fine on Monterey on the internal drive up until now though.

in Native Access
bottom left side "Maintenance"
Select "Locate Product Content"

Saves a LOT of clicking! (My Library has 275 items)

also, check Preferences
File Management

in Native Access, you can choose a location for content in preferences. I have mine on an external SSD in a folder created there I named Native Instruments.

The only problem I have is if I try to install content without that drive mounted or otherwise not connected. In that case NA will install content on the system drive in Application Support folder.

As others said, you can choose different locations for all or some of the content. No operating system required on an external content drive/drives.

(I see that most of that was already said in the post above mine)
