Greets:
Having just installed Pro Tools for the first time last week, I did not see Sketch coming at all. And it looks very promising, and kinda clever the way the system works. I have an iPad Pro, M1, 11" model. The fonts are very difficult to read for my eyes, even with reading glasses. I have vision issues. I attempted to increase the font size by going into Accessibility, and adding Pro Tools Sketch as one of the apps where I could then adjust the visual settings. Unfortunately, it does not respond to any font changes...not bolding the font, and not increasing the size. From a readability standpoint, it'll be hard to see and will cause a bit of eye fatigue. My request is for the iPad app to have ways to improve on the font size. Thank you! |

Hi Welcome to DUC.
Have you tried the iPad Zoom feature in Accessibility settings? If not play with the three finger tap and controls you can get to to vary the magnification etc. As you likely gathered the dynamic font sizing feature is something developers have to explicit support in each app and it can be a lot of work in a complex UI app. I certainly cannot guess what Avid developers are going to do but I'd be a little surprised if they were able to deliver that support soon. BTW as macOS adds dynamic type support similar to iOS I expect some apps will try to support it... and many will break/have UI problems. And I would expect Pro Tools just never can support that full capability, or only support some of the UI text scaling. |

Hello Daryll....and thanks for the welcome and the reply.
Who knows whether or not the developers can include my request, or if it ever get implemented. I'm a believer in the adage, "If you don't ask, you don't get." It might happen or not, but I think it's a fair request to add to the mix, especially since it's a new platform, for lack of the better term, that's in active development. The Zoom feature could be an option, but not an ideal one, as it has its own imperfections, especially when it comes to navigation, and the fact that the way zoom works isn't quite like, say, pinching in and out in order to zoom in and out of the entire screen, to even get to a section of it in a smooth fashion. Not to say that it isn't an alternative that may be worth trying. It's just that in my personal experience, it's been more of a hinderance. I hold out hope that the ability to integrate the dynamic font features can happen. I feel that there are more than enough people, especially those with low vision issues like me, who are Pro Tools users who can benefit greatly by being able to have a better view of the interface. Even if it means adding the features independently of any Apple features (bold text, font size, visual themes); there have been apps that have done this. Good of you to have chimed in. |
