Default Daw controller

Hello. Looking to buy a control ler that isnt gonna break The bank that works with PT 202011. Been looking at The presonus fader port 16. Any ideas. 16 channels motor faders of course. NO messy set ups etc etc. And not expensive. Been old school for a lot of years. Tired of one TRACK at a time mixing by mouse. 10 fingers on The board rules.

I’ve used the FaderPort 8 with PT and it works well. It uses the older HUI protocol, so you don’t get the resolution and features of a EUCON S1, but it’s also a lot less expensive. I can’t think of any other controllers in that price range that I would recommend over the Presonus.

I see used Avid Artist Mix's on Reverb in the $500 to $700 range. They are great controllers and use the full features of Eucon. I've had one for over 2 years and has been solid.

These days, I would probably go for an Avid S1. The integration with Eucon is much better than HUI, and you can expand as budget allows. S1, then add a DOCK, then another S1.....over time, you can expand this out to 32 faders plus the DOCK. Check it out

There are so many useful features in the Eucon protocol (folder / vca spill, fader layouts, extensive softkeys, etc), and it's so deeply integrated into the Pro Tools world, it's worth the extra bucks for a decent Eucon controller. S1s and Docks are not particularly expensive, but Audiobob's thought of a used ArtistMix could be a decent way to go if you need to save some money. The Artistmix controllers are a lot less solid than the S1s, but functionally more or less equivalent.

Second to that. I have it side to my C24 on live gigs, so much easier to control monitor feeds with one set of dedicated faders.

I'm also happy with the Command|8 that I got for $150 a few years ago. It's old, but it still solid as a rock with any version of PT. I admit, I haven't been using it that much, it never replaced mouse/keyboard in any way.
BUT now, together with my new SSL UC1 plugin controller, I'm loving how they let me control (almost) everything including the SSL channelstrip and bus compressor.

It also has transport buttons. Not all controllers have that.
