Pro Tools 12.2 Academic Cannot Activate

Hi all -

Hoping you can help me with a problem. I've Pro Tools since ver. 9 and way back when got an academic upgrade to ver 11. I was in my Avid.com account and noticed in my products section downloads for ver. Academic 12.2. It downloaded and installed with no problems.

I tried to open PT 12 and was required to activate it. When I logged onto my Ilok account the screen states that I don't have any licenses in my account or none of the licenses have activations available and that I have no pending deliveries for the license(s) you need to activate the software.

Needless to say, confused, especially since I no longer have PT 11 installed (12 wiped out the installation).

How do I go about activating PT 12?

Check your ilok manager and see if you have a pending license to activate.

Not that I can see - iLOK manager was the first thing I checked.

Strangely enough, I logged in today to post exactly the same question.

In my case I had 2 old academic licences for PT9, and received upgrades to 10 and 11. I've largely switched to Logic X but needed to install PT to open an old session to transfer. Saw that I had 12.2 in my Avid account, but nothing on my iLok.

Next to both of my licences it says: Pro Tools 9.

I suspect that my purchase was maybe 9 or 10 days outside of the 4-year upgrade period, so I was only partially processed?

I guess my only way into PT12 is to get on a plan or buy a new licence outright? Is there an upgrade path from academic to 'normal' licences, now that I'm a fully functioning adult? ;-)

Badseed79 - pretty much what I am thinking too. I posed the question to Avid and their response was that I am beyond the 4 year period for free updates (I first installed PT in 2011) and even though 12.2 is listed in my downloads I don't have a license for it so running it is a no-go..

I'm guessing that I would have been inside the window when PT 12 was first released so would have been eligible for the free upgrade at that time but am not now. Oh well.

If this was a student purchase that included 4 years of releases, you should be entitled to the versions that were released during your term. Looking into this...

Checked your info and Pro Tools 12.0 was released beyond the end of your 4 year term, so you were not eligible when it was released. Will follow up via your support case.
