I have just sold my iMac G5 because i was absolutely fed up with the loud fans, i reluctantly purchased an intel iMac and to be honest you can't compare the two. It's on average 3 x faster than the G5 and whatsmore it's as whisper quiet as a notebook. If you buy a PPC now your mad, they're sluggish, slow and noisy. The iBook is next to go, Macbook for sure.

Be sure to check out the refurbished section of the apple store, especially if your in the US you can save an absolute fortune.

Cheers

Certainly not from me. Runs great here on my MacBook. I'm mixing a couple of tracks at the moment that is getting close to the roof of what PTLE can handle.

It's performing very inconsistently on too many systems that were completely stable under 7.1 or 7.0.
Digi is aware of this and working to resolve it unfortunately it means if you are suffering from 7.3 problems it may still take a while to resolve them.

In my opinion right now used macs are way over priced (I am not sure why, for some reason they seem to be in demand)

because for some going to an Intel is a costly upgrade since it could mean upgrading plugs and other software that they may have to pay for.
The DP G5's and Quads offer a system that has very usable power and the ability to easily migrate to from a G4 system.
We saw a similar thing with the DP G4's when the G5's finally started selling.

Really just comes down to each individuals needs, budget and current setup.

If you can recall when the Intel-Macs first stared shipping the G4 and G5 prices dropped dramatically, but later began to creep back up.
The Intels are faster have better pricing and are the current direction but still have added cost in some people situation.
