Default Pro Tools 10 license and MPTK.

Let's say I have an older PowerMac G5 with Pro Toole LE 8 installed on it. Can I activate the MPTK with the license of Pro Tools 10?

OK, but what I am asking is if it's possible to activate MPTK for Pro Tools 8 LE with PT10 license.

The PT 10 license has nothing to do with the MPTK. You need an Ilok license for the MPTK to use it.

what you CAN use, are the few plugins that were part of the MPTK. Those are (assuming you have the ilok assets) listed in your ilok account and can be installed separately. But as said, the MPTK extra tracks are now included, so the MPTK serves no purpose(if you are thinking it would add EXTRA tracks to the 64 you now have, the answer is, no it won't).

But it sounds like he's still using PT8, so it would make a difference, but he needs the Ilok license, and also the installer for the Toolkit itself.

Okay....I get it now. You need the MPTK license to make the MPTK work. The 10 license is only good for 10(and 9 if you did an upgrade to 10, from 9). MPTK license are pretty cheap these days(I have one if you want to shoot me an email).

@nst7 No, I am using Pro Tools 10, an upgrade from 9. But I am thinking about buying an old G5 Quad and to install on it PT8LE.
@albee1952 Yes, that's what I want to do.

So in that case, yes, you would need the MPTK license, and also a copy of the installer (the MPTK does not simply "unlock" the features, there's an actual installer needed).
