Default Pro Tools 6.0.1 Updates & Core Audio for OS X

Pro Tools 6.0.1 Updates & Core Audio for OS X

Several new Mac OS X downloads are now available from the Support/Downloads section:

Pro Tools 6.0.1 updates:

Pro Tools 6.0.1 Software
If you’re currently running Pro Tools 6.0 software, we recommend that you update to 6.0.1 to enjoy the most reliable performance possible from your system. Pro Tools 6.0.1 provides several dozen fixes for problems and incorrect behaviors that you may have experienced with Pro Tools 6.0. A complete list of bug fixes can be found by searching “Pro Tools 6.0.1” in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the AnswerBase, under the Support section of the Digidesign website.

Pro Tools 6.0.1 is a free update for owners of Pro Tools 6.0. Pro Tools 6.0.1 supports Mac OS X versions 10.2.3 and 10.2.4 only.

Digidesign Core Audio Drivers for Mac OS X:

Digidesign Core Audio Driver (Mac OS X)
The Digidesign Core Audio driver allows your third-party applications supporting the Apple Core Audio standard to utilize your Pro Tools system for audio input and output. Depending on the hardware and application, you can record and playback multiple channels of 24-bit audio up to 96 kHz (see the documentation included with the driver for a complete list of tested applications). The following Digidesign hardware systems are supported with this release of the Digidesign Core Audio Drivers and Pro Tools 6.0.1:
  • Pro Tools|HD with Pro Tools 6.0.1
  • Pro Tools|24 MIX with Pro Tools 6.0.1
  • Digi 001 with Pro Tools LE 6.0.1
  • Mbox with Pro Tools LE 6.0.1
This initial version of the Core Audio driver requires some embedded Pro Tools components. As such, it is a requirement that Pro Tools 6.0.1 must be installed for correct Core Audio driver operation.

If you wish to use Core Audio drivers without a Pro Tools install, Digidesign will also be providing a downloadable, stand-alone Core Audio installer on this same page in the coming weeks. Thanks for your patience.

For more information on installation, usage, compatibility and limitations, please review the Usage Guide and Read Me files provided with the Core Audio driver.

Digidesign MIDI I/O Driver v2.0.1 for Mac OS X and OS 9:

Digidesign MIDI I/O Driver Update (Mac OS X & OS 9)
This new driver for the Digidesign MIDI I/O resolves a firmware problem and also provides improved general performance. Again, if you own or use a Digidesign MIDI I/O in conjunction with Mac OS 9 or OS X, you should take advantage of this update in order to optimize performance.
