There is no way I'd invest in HDX at this point, very few need it anymore, unless you have a lot of I/O needs.

You'd be much better off replacing your computer with a Mac Studio than investing in HDX.

If you feel you absolutely have to have DSP for tracking, of which with the right computer I'm saying you won't need it, but if you do, then the Carbon would be the way to go assuming you don't need more than 24 I/O (8 Analog and 16 via LightPipe (44.1/48)), at least at the moment unless they actually make AVB a real option, then it opens a much bigger world.
