OT: Wireless keypad for Mac...LMP Bluetooth Keypad
I am constantly bugged by my wired keyboard and mouse. I want to go wireless sooo badly, but we all know what Pro Tools would be like without the keypad. Sometimes I just don't get how Apple can so blatantly miss the boat on something and not ever do anything about it. There are forum posts and complaints everywhere about Apple not having a wireless keyboard that includes a keypad.
Today I stumbled across this: http://www.lmp-adapter.com/products/8337.html Brilliant!!!! I can hardly wait for this to be available. This is even better than having a full size wireless keyboard. I could now take this extension piece with me outside of the control room and control Pro Tools with the keypad. Too bad Apple wasn't smart enough to think of something like this. These guys will make bank.

That is brilliant!
Yeah, I never understood why Apple never released a full sized wireless keyboard.

Re: OT: Wireless keypad for Mac...LMP Bluetooth Keypad
Finally.
One of my pet peeves smartly addressed. Even Apples "Pro Apps" need a keypad yet they have not had a "Pro" keyboard since they introduced the new style in 2007? 2008? I want one. Edit: it would be way cool if they made the adapter bracket available for attaching a Magic trackpad. Ordered. Thanks Dizzi.

Re: OT: Wireless keypad for Mac...LMP Bluetooth Keypad
So now that I have been able to finally get my Mac Pro up and working with this wireless system (ends up I own one of the few intel Mac Pros that don't come with Bluetooth installed), it seems to be working great. It does take a bit of getting use to with the fn key at the bottom left, but the biggest disappointment is the fact that you can't use any modifier keys with the the number keypad. This must be because the Mac sees the number pad and the QWERTY Keyboard as two different keyboards. So that means there aren't hotkeys for showing and hiding Markers, Automation Window and etc. But I think I might be willing to use the windows bar for those cases to get rid of my wired keyboard.
Anybody else having any good/bad experiences with this set-up?

no modifier+keypad? that's a deal-breaker for me.

Re: OT: Wireless keypad for Mac...LMP Bluetooth Keypad
Understandable. I wish there was a way to tell the mac to link them together. Nevertheless. I am going to see how much it really slows down my workflow. If anything, it will be a cool remote for the studio. I could control the transport and etc. from far distances in the studio. It will run along with your wired keyboard still connected. So you could use both.

Re: OT: Wireless keypad for Mac...LMP Bluetooth Keypad
Sorry for writing on an old post, but I've tried the Lmp bl. Keyp. with PT 9 and some shortcuts don't work: Apple 3, Apple 5, Apple 1....
Any suggestion? Do I have to bring it back to the shop? Thank you Luke, using a MBP 15" late 2011 |

Re: OT: Wireless keypad for Mac...LMP Bluetooth Keypad
Luke,
Your problem is exactly what we are talking about (right above your post). Since they really are two separate keyboards, any kind of key combination that involves both keyboards won't work. So trying to do Apple 1, or Apple 3 won't work until there is a way to make the 2 keyboards act as one keyboard.
