Urgtente Help! PT HD10.3.8 abort as opens session

Hi,
Everything was fine until a few hours ago.

Pro Tools HD 10.3.8 with 2 iloks under OS 10.6.8, installed 10 days ago.


Session opens and then pops up the spinning ball and aborts/quits.

There are some messagens like
Exception type EXC BAD ACCESS (SIG BUSS)
KERN PROTECTION FAILURE AT 0x000000

I was in the middle of a session, having to cancel.
Ouch!

Hi,

Is this every session including new sessions?

If its one session then open a new session and use import session data and import a few tracks at a time (Maybe 5 or so) then see how far you get. you might open the whole session ok or find one specific track is the issue. possibly import the specific track from an earlier auto save version etc.


Have you checked all your plugins are up to date since upgrading to PT 10?

I am doing exactly what you are suggesting. New session, importing tracks, etc. OK.


Here it goes concerning my troubleshooting:

a) did a safe boot : boot + shift key

b) Rebooted.. opened Pro Tools.. It said I did not have the authorization!

c) Opened ilok license manager. There was an update to 4.6.
downloaded it, installed it.
Tried to quit it, again..frozen.

I forced quit, again opened disk utility, re-repaired disk permissions..

d) rebooted..Pro Tools opens normally. However, It takes plenty of time at "creating Dae objects".

Should I disable "autosaving"? I read somewhere that this bug shall happen with 10.3.8.

It is a shame HD10.3.9 is buggy and now HD 10.3.8 is suspicious.
I really regret I left my stable 8.1.1 version.

Or is it related to ilok license managerw

Autosave has not been an issue for me, but I run a Windows machine. If you are opening Pro Tools by just clicking on a session file, try opening Pro Tools first from the Icon, and then open the session using the File>Open Session command. If that fails, hold the SHIFT key down while opening the session, which will make all plugins inactive. If this works and the session opens, its likely a bad plugin(but at least you can open the session and figure out which plugin is bad).
