Default AIR advanced instrument research plugs HighJacks PT

Hi all.
I'm running PTle 8.0.1cs2 with Mac 10.5.8.

When I bring up velvet more than once, PT quits (would anyone know of an update? I've been working with it but...)

My main question is. I've been going thru my plugs (I have a few 3rd party that I've been working with) but have just noticed that when I bring up AIR plugs, they high jack PT. I have to click back on a PT screen to get control of PT. If I click on any AIR plug, I loose control of PT.
I was having this situation with a bluecat plug, and about a month back I read they had a fix for it (I believe they termed it as highjacking) I downloaded the fix and all is good.

Would anyone know if AIR has addressed this " highjacking" problem?

Much Thanks.

Are you running Velvet 1.0.2? Also, are all your plug-ins up to date?

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for the response.

The Velvet is 1.0.2.7467
and the air plugs are 1.0.1.9624

Looked high and low over the Avid/digi sight and can't find the updates or anything about the "AIR". Nor the Velvet quitting PT on 2nd instantiation..

Trashed prefs.....again, to no avail .

Velvet always reacted this way since I upped to v8 a couple yrs back.
The "AIR" plugs used to work, but not sure if the update to 8.0.1 or the cs2 put the kabosh on them.

Thanks again for writing back, any more thoughts welcome.

I found a velvet updater for 7.4-8.0.3. It's labeled v 1.0.2.51468, I've got the v1.0.2.7467,

I'm on the fence if I should install???
Still nothing about AIR.

Continuing......thank you.

Hi Rich, alternatively, you could update to Pro Tools 8.0.3 with Mac OS X 10.5.x keeping Velvet at revision 1.0.2. Ummm... what happens when you move all plug-in except Velvet from the Plug-Ins folder to Unused Plug-In folder, deleting the Pro Tools and DAE Preferences? Are you capable of instantiating Velvet twice?

Move "all" plugs to unused folder? Never tried that........
Your saying just keep velvet in plugins and move all the rest to unused, eg,,strike AIR,BF,X-pand,sound replacer, etc...?

I use waves platinum, studio collection, sonox, brainwoks, flux......and more...

all to unused??? I'm confused (hey that rhymes)

I'm also concerned upping to 8.0.3 as the wave plugs in v6 are approved to pt v8.0.1... maybe time for a WUP??? to v7.

Thank you for the input Aaron. Not sure how to handle this.

Any thoughts on the AIR hijacking?

I believe you have a plug-in that needs updating and moving all plug-ins (copy and paste) to the unused plug-in folder should confirm that belief.

Hi Aaron,

Still looking high and low for velvet and air effects plugs updates.

Interesting... That it seems I am the only person in the entire world that has this velvet/air issue.

Not to be a smart ars........I totally appreciate your input.......but as far as moving (copy-paste) all the plugs to unused plugs to verify (confirm that) I need an update on the velvet/air plugs, I have not seen any updates for the air plugs, and the current 1.0.2 velvet update is pre the one I have.
So to confirm I need an update by moving the plugs to confirm.... they are not working properly so it seems that that is confirming it....... and as mentioned, no updates are available.

???

Redownload v8 and everything digi/avid??? And see when velvet/air go astray.
Go with the 8.0.3 and WUP?
Go with Upped OS to Snow or what ever current Mac OS it is and WUP and PT v9? (as far as v9, I have all the things that come with v9 in the v8 I have from the toolkit and add ons, the only thing that might be nice with the v9 might be the available 128 or so busses which I currently have 32)

Work with what I have?

Long story short.......
I had been using REASON rewired with PT and that was always a problem (crashes)(both with 7.4 and 8).

I went with Logic also and am able to use Reason rewired with it too. No problems.

I've been taking the Logic sessions into PT for editing.

So at this point. it would be nice to have PT working at as close to 100% as possible......... but sometimes as you know with this stuff........if it ain't broke (or rather your up and working), don't mess with it.

Thanks again for all your input.

Rich, you are not listening, I have given you some tips to troubleshoot this issue, if you can not follow them, then there is no point replying.

....butting in...

Rich:
You are assuming that your problem lies with an AIR plug because that's what's exhibiting the problem. I believe that Aaron suspects a problem with some other plug or plugs, and that's why he suggests moving eveything out of the way, and putting them back in play individually until you find the problem.

Aaron:
I think this is what you had in mind, yes?

...butting back out...

Bob
