Default Are MAC UPGRADES TO PROCESSORS SUPPORTED?

I'm interesting in updating a g4 agp graphics to a newer processor, most likely a 2ghz G4 processor. I'm outside of the free complimentary support anyway, so is there any harm in upgrading using a processor from New Tech or Powerlogix etc with protools. I REALLY DONT SEE WHY THERE WOULD BE. TIA.

CPU upgrades are not "supported", but they work fine. My Gigadesigns dual 1.6 is rock solid with PTLE, and a friend of mine has a dual 1.7 that works great with M-Powered.

I upgraded my old 466 G4 to a (Gigadesigns) dual 1.8GHz a few years ago and it's worked great with my 001 & OSX 10.3.9 setup until my hard drive crapped out recently. Technically it wasn't supported, but it worked great for me.

I'll third this. Just got a Powerlogix dual 1.6 to replace the stock single 867 in my quicksilver. Upgraded the ram from 640MB to 1.5GB also. Both a 001 on 10.3.9 and PT 6.4 and an original Mbox running on 10.4.8 and PT 7.3.1 are working great.

HI,

At this very moment I am sitting an my G4 AGP with 1.2 GHz Sonnet CPU upgrade with PTMP7.1,
Tiger.4.8 and a M-Audio Tranist.

Worked for 7 years with my 001, until 10.3.9 without a flaw, and 3+ years with a the CPU upgrade.
never let me down.

BEWARE: you you have a G4 AGP like mine, without Giga Ethernet, you won´t be able to run DUAL CPU upgrades!
