Low headphone volume on mbox 3 pro
Hey guys,
I've been searching for the cure but can't find it. I'm running PT 11.0.3 just fine with current drivers in my mbox 3 pro. On headphone A , even when in the control panel I have the master volume all the way up, hardware inputs 1/2 all the way up. I'm running a dynamic mic in input 1 on the box, the gain is where I want it on the meter level......but I have to turn the headphone volume all the up to 4 o'clock to get to an almost acceptable headphone volume, but it could be louder. It makes the singer naturally get too close to the mic, and have to sing louder than comfortable. This can't be normal and I assume there must be some other setting to adjust so I can crank the headphone volume as loud as needed for the vocalist. Please help!!! Thanks in advance, Greg |

Re: Low headphone volume on mbox 3 pro
What exact model headphones? What is the impedance? High impedance phones(like 600 ohm AKG 240's) will be much softer than low impedance phones(like 32 ohms). Start with that spec before you blame the Mbox. Next, I would look at the settings in the monitoring software(which I don't use, so I can't offer any better advice)

Re: Low headphone volume on mbox 3 pro
Thanks Dave. I am using Beyer dynamic DT 770 pro -- 80ohms impedance 5-35,000 hz frequency response. I can crank them all the way headphone volume to the right, but could use a little more volume.
I just checked that same volume setting with my cheaper audio technicas ATH-M30 at 65 ohms. The volume sounds roughly the same. |

Re: Low headphone volume on mbox 3 pro
After going through my control panel settings, I'm starting to think I should just get an external headphone amp and run my signal out the headphone jack. It just doesn't make sense that there wouldn't be enough extra volume on the stock mbox. Hmmmmmmm.........
When listening back on my monitors, there is MORE than enough volume from the master volume dial. |
