Default BFD 2 64 bit beta....FINALLY!

http://www.fxpansion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7576207

Quote:
This is a public beta of the forthcoming BFD2 v2.3. While it is relatively stable, some caution should be advised before installing this build prior to committing to any kind of critical project. If you're running BFD2 in a "professional environment" or whatever, wait until v2.3 out of beta before upgrading. It's that simple.

We're currently looking at some obscure graphic glitches and odd window focus anomalies that we're aiming to resolve in the next few days. You may experience some strange behavior if you try to run the stand-alone app and plug-in at the same time. We've never advocated doing this anyway, so we're just reiterating here that it's still not an approved practice.

BFD2 v2.3 has the following enhancements:
* 64-bit Windows 7 support
* 64-bit OSX 10.6 support
This is great news to me!!

Very cool thanks I just noticed this. If there is one plugin that needs 64 bit it's BFD. I run out of RAM like crazy on BFD. I think one of AVID's major excuses to not have pro tools has 64 bit was there are no plugins in 64 bit so glad that excuse will soon no longer exist. How they did it so fast boggles my mind.

Something rankles about the phrase "professional environment or whatever...". Maybe they didn't mean anything by it, but do they want us to feel we can depend on it or not?

It just means they don't want people who are working on important projects (or what they deem to be important) to complain that a BETA is not working properly.

Just a disclaimer, really.

This is very good news, though.

With our favourite VIs finally catching up to the 64 bit world... it seems it will be only a matter of time for Pro Tools to follow suit.
